Gentle Flow Yoga
Flow Yoga Class
This session uses continuous Dynamic Movement (Vinyasa) rather than holding poses for extended periods as in Yin Yoga.
Each pose flows into the next, often linked by a Vinyasa sequence (Plank → Chaturanga → Upward-Facing Dog → Downward-Facing Dog).
This a Breath-Synchronized Practice.
The breath (usually Ujjayi breathing) is central, acting as a guide for each movement.
Listen for Cues synchronizing movements to match inhales and exhales:
For example : Inhale → Lift arms overhead (e.g., Mountain Pose).
Exhale → Fold forward into a stretch (e.g., Forward Fold).
Flow classes are often sequenced in non-repetitive poses and designed to build toward a peak pose or theme.
Sequences include:
Sun Salutations
Standing postures like Warrior poses.
Balancing poses, backbends, and core work.
Advanced classes may include arm balances or inversions.
Some Flow Yoga classes are fast-paced and energetic, while others may be slower and more deliberate.
Pacing often depends on the class level or the instructor’s style.
Focus on Alignment and Strength
Though dynamic, Flow Yoga emphasizes proper alignment to ensure safety and maximize benefits.
The continuous movement builds strength, endurance, and flexibility.
Mindfulness and Presence
Flow Yoga encourages staying present by focusing on the breath and transitions.
The flowing sequences create a moving meditation that fosters mental clarity and stress relief.
Cool-Down and Relaxation
Classes typically end with a cool-down sequence of seated or reclining poses, followed by Savasana for relaxation and integration.
